The University of Kentucky Varsity Dance Team prides itself on a top notch dance team that places high in national college competition. In February 2005, the squad took home its first national championship in Las Vegas at United Spirit Association (USA) College Nationals. The team, under the direction of Cathy Coyle, took home 1st place in jazz and 3rd place in hip-hop. In 2006, the squad took home 2nd place in jazz at the USA Nationals while in 2007 and 2008 the team finished 3rd in jazz at USA.

In February 2003, the dance team competed at the USA Nationals in Las Vegas where they were ranked 1st going into the finals. The team ended up 3rd overall in the nation. In 2000 and 2002, the team placed 3rd and 5th, respectively, at the USA Nationals. And in 2004, the team placed 4th.

The UK Dance team has been competitive for over 14 years, starting to go to USA college nationals in 2001 making a name for itself and placing in the top five every year since. Before going to USA nationals, the team competed at UDA college nationals where the team was ranking 4th in taping in 2000, making it into the finals, and getting into the top ten many years.
