Kentucky Receives Eighth Seed in SEC Tournament
Wildcats will face No. 3 Florida for second time in five days.
The University of Kentucky volleyball team will begin post-season play on Friday, Nov. 21 as they take on third-ranked Florida in the opening round of the 2003 Southeastern Conference Tournament at the Volleyball Competition Facility in Columbia, S.C. The Wildcats will take on the top-seeded Gators at 1 p.m. to open the tourney, which includes the top eight league teams.
The Wildcats (14-15, 6-10 SEC) dropped their last three matches of the regular-season, including losses to No. 19 Louisville, 3-1, and No. 3 Florida, 3-0, in Lexington Sunday. Kentucky has qualified for the last three conference showdowns and fell in the first round to Florida last year in Fayetteville, Ark. The Cats’ last SEC tourney win came on Nov. 19, 1999 – a 3-2 victory over South Carolina.
Kentucky will depart for South Carolina on Wednesday. The team will hold its official practice at 8 a.m. on Thursday before the tournament awards banquet at 7 p.m. at the Embassy Suites. For more ticket information contact the USC Ticket office at 800-4SC-FANS (72-3267).
