Weiskircher Named Second-Team All-SEC
(Nov. 17, 2000) -- University of Kentucky volleyball player Megan Weiskircher was named All-Southeastern Conference second team for the 2000 season the conference announced on November 14.
Weiskircher, a 6-1 senior middle blocker, leads the Wildcats with 354 kills (3.61 gm.) and 234 digs (2.39 gm.) The Houston, Texas, native recorded a team-high 11 double-doubles this season and was the Cats' kill leader in nine matches and dig leader in eight. She also posted a career-high 21 kills earlier this season. Weiskircher was selected to the All-Tournament team at the Jefferson Cup and the Buckeye Invitational, in addition to being voted MVP of the Kentucky Conference Challenge. "I would like to extend a congratulations on behalf of myself and the entire team on Megan's accomplishment," UK coach Jona Braden said. "I believe anytime a person is honored in this way, they are honored by the recognition of the teams they've competed against. I want to commend her along with all the players who received All-SEC honors."
