Match Notes

LEXINGTON, Ky. - The 10th-ranked Kentucky volleyball team will return to action Sunday when they play host to Georgia in the Dig for the Cure match. All proceeds from ticket sales and t-shirt sales will benefit the Markey Cancer Center help raise awareness for breast cancer.

The match will be aired live on CWKYT (Lexington - Channel 5) at 1:30 Sunday. Viewers can also see the match on tape delay Oct. 13 at 7 p.m. ET on FSN South. Dick Gabriel and former UK volleyball player Katie Eieserman will be on the call.

Friday night the Kentucky Wildcats (16-1, 6-0) notched a 3-0 sweep of Auburn behind a season-best .424 hitting percentage. The win marked head coach Craig Skinner's 100th career win as a head coach and at Kentucky. He achieved the mark faster than any other UK coach in history.

Four Wildcats hit better than .450 in the match led by senior setter Sarah Rumely's .600 hitting percentage behind six kills. UK's director of the offense found a number of offensive performers against the Tigers. Juniors Sarah Mendoza and Lauren Rapp led the way with 13 and 11 kills, respectively. Sophomores Ann Armes and Gretchen Giesler chipped in with seven apiece.

Giesler led the way defensively by matching a career-high with seven blocks. Rumely added five in the front row effort.

Georgia enters the match with UK with an 11-6 clip and 2-4 mark in the SEC. Gone from Georgia's lineup a year ago is All-SEC performer Maria Taylor, but Erika Clark does pace the offense with 3.09 kills per set. Valentina Gonzalez has provided a consistent performer at the net both offensively with 2.55 kills per stanza and on defense with 1.17 blocks per set.

Fans are encouraged to wear pink in helping UK raise awareness for breast cancer. The first 100 fans will receive a free Dig for the Cure t-shirt.

Students will have an opportunity to obtain a wristband for the men's basketball Student Only Practice on Oct. 23. The first 500 students may attain a wristband at UK's volleyball match with Georgia on Sunday.
