Lauren Rapp Named SEC Freshman of the Week

Kentucky middle blocker Lauren Rapp has been named the Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week. This is the second such honor for Rapp and the third for the Wildcats this season.

Rapp helped lead Kentucky to a 2-0 SEC record this weekend with a pair of 3-1 road wins over Georgia and Auburn. The Indianapolis native reached double-digit kills for the sixth time this season as she tied her season-high with 14 in the win over Georgia. She also committed just one hitting error in 31 attempts for a hitting percentage of .419 against the Bulldogs. Rapp added four assists and eight digs against UGA as well as five block assists.

The 6-3 freshman added eight kills on .333 hitting to go along with 10 digs in the win over Auburn on Sunday. Rapp added three more blocks at Auburn, giving her 68 for the season. She added an ace in each match this weekend and has now recorded at least one service ace in every match but one this season.

Rapp is ranked third on the team with 2.44 kills per game. She has a .275 hitting percentage for the season after hitting .388 for the weekend. The rookie leads the team with 24 service aces for an average of 0.44 per game and is tied for second on the team with 1.24 blocks per game.

Rapp and the Wildcats return to action on Wednesday, Sept. 26, when they host rival Tennessee at 7 p.m. in Memorial Coliseum.
