"Being a freshman outside hitter is not easy, particularly in our conference, but Kristen weathered the storm very well and was our most consistent offensive producer by the end of the season. Kristen wants to be an offensive force for us, but she is also dedicated to having a complete game. She is an incredible server and continues to improve on defense."

1999
Had one of the most spectacular freshman campaigns in UK volleyball history... Ranked 2nd on the team in kills and attacks per game while leading the team with 40 service aces (0.35 pg)... Posted double-figures in kills in 19 matches, 2nd on the team behind only Katie Eisermans 23... Recorded 20 kills in only her third career match helping her earn a spot on the Hokie Classic All-Tournament team... After committing 12 receiving errors in the first seven matches, settled in to make only two over the last 16 matches... Showed in the SEC Tournament just how much her defensive game improved over the season, setting career-highs of 15 digs and then 23 in UKs run to the semifinals... Named to the SEC All-Tournament team.

High School
Attended Venice High School... Named the 1998 Class 5A Player of the Year in Florida when she was a first-team all-state selection... Named the "WWSB TV 40s Female Athlete of the Year"... Led her team to a 29-6 record and the 1998 Class 5A State Championship... Selected as the MVP of the South Florida tournament... Named to the all-tournament team at the Berkley volleyball tournament... Recorded 564 kills, 158 digs, and 63 blocks during the 1998 season... Four-year letterman for Venice in volleyball and basketball and a three-year letterwinner in softball... Named all-area and offensive player of the year in basketball and rookie of the year in softball.

Personal
Kristen Ann Batt is the daughter of Richard and Patricia Batt... Born April 17, 1981.

My Advice to Youngsters: Dont let anyone destroy your dreams. Set your mind to them and keep working until you achieve them.

The thing that impresses me most about Coach Braden is: Her knowledge of the game and her ability to get things through to us in her inspirational stories.

My primary inspiration in sports is: My inspiration is that I have the mindset and want to play the game. If my heart wasnt in it, I wouldnt be playing.

The thing I like most about volleyball is: I love the competition of the game and the excitement.

The thing I like most about being a student-athlete at UK is: Feeling like part of a family.
