Tournament Schedule Changed Due to Hurricane Floyd
Sept. 16, 1999
The Friday night matches for the Kentucky Conference Challenge have been pushed back an hour from 5 and 7 p.m. to 6 and 8 p.m. in response to the Hofstra Flying Dutchwomen being unable to get a flight out of New York due to Hurricane Floyd. Hofstra is scheduled to depart by airplane from New York on Friday afternoon at approximately 3 p.m.
If the team is able to depart on time, Hofstra will play Central Michigan at 8 p.m. on Friday instead of 5 p.m. as previously scheduled. UK will then host Southeast Missouri at 5 p.m. instead of 7 p.m.
If both matches take place on Friday night, the Saturday slate of four matches will continue as planned. Morning play would begin at 10 a.m. with SEMO taking on Hofstra, followed by UK vs. Central Michigan at noon. The evening action begins at 5 p.m. when CMU battles SEMO, to be immediately followed by UK vs Hofstra at 7 p.m.
If the Flying Dutchwomen are unable to take to the air on Friday, the tournament will go on with the games involving Hofstra being dropped from the schedule. An appropriate schedule will then be constructed to facilitate the remaining three teams.
