Volleyball Finishes Second at Spring Tournament
April 7, 2002 LEXINGTON, Ky. - The University of Kentucky volleyball team took second place in the Kentucky Spring Tournament on Saturday, April 6 at the Seaton Center on UK's campus. The Wildcats finished exhibition play with a 5-3 record, while Morehead State took first place with a 6-2 record. Kentucky played two matches with each oppenent, sweeping Evansville while splitting with Morehead State, Wright State and Western Kentucky. Wright State tied with UK in second with a 5-3 records while Evansville and WKU each finished with a 2-6 mark. "We saw great things today because with every team we went in expecting a battle," Coach Jona Braden said. "Our effort came from the defensive end. From defensive execution comes offense. We also saw great leadership from Liz McCaslin and Aleisha Craven, which really helps build a combined team effort." Kentucky concludes the spring season on Saturday, April 13 at the Northwestern Invitational in Evanston, Ill.
