Volleyball Announces 2009 Coaches Clinic
March 11, 2009 Camp Brochure LEXINGTON, Ky. - The clinic will feature a special guest in Jim Stone the Head Coach of the USA Youth National Team. In addition to Stone, all three of Kentucky's coaches will be featured. Additionally, Brian Begor from the Renaissance Volleyball Club in Pittsburgh, Eric Garvey the head coach at nationally-ranked Sacred Heart Academy, and Stephanie Tracey-Simmons, Kentucky's Head Strength and Conditioning coach will be in Lexington as featured presenters at the clinic. The first session begins at 5 p.m. Friday, April 24. Kentucky's Chris Beerman will host a session revolving around a successful practice routine, followed by Begor's serving session and UK Head Coach Craig Skinner's setter training. The night will conclude with a coaches' social. Saturday, Begor kicks off the day with a ball control instructional session. Tracey-Simmons will address the importance of core strength/jump training and nutrition for athletes. She will be followed by Stone's session on the development of an offensive system. In the second half of Saturday's session, Garvey will hold a defensive strategist session which will be followed by a panel discussion. The day will wrap up with Stone's instruction on service receptions and Skinner's traditional and swing blocking session.
