Team Records and Series Notes:

  • Penn State improves to 31-2, while Michigan State closes the season 23-12.
  • Penn State advances to the Lexington Regional final on Saturday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. ET against the winner of match two between No. 7 Stanford and No. 10 Minnesota.
  • One of Penn State’s two losses was to Michigan State at home on Sept. 27.
  • Penn State leads the all-time series, 38-7.

First Set:

  • Penn State jumped out to a 5-1 lead, earning the early advantage.
  • Michigan State responded with a 6-2 run after falling behind by four to square the set at seven.
  • Both teams traded points and neither side had more than a two-point lead until Michigan State claimed at 24-21 to earn three set points.
  • Penn State was forced to use both of its timeouts in the set, and fell 25-22.
  • Michigan State’s Lauren Wicinski had a set-high seven kills.

Individual Notes:  

  • Allyssah Fitterer (MSU) led all players in the match with 18 kills. She hit .441 and three digs.
  • Kori Moster (MSU), the B1G Defensive Player of the Year, recorded a match-high 20 digs.
  • Micha Hancock (PSU) recorded a double-double with a match-high 47 assists and 14 digs.
  • Dominique Gonzalez (PSU) had a team high 16 digs.
