Women?s Tennis to Compete in 2005 ITA Regional Championships

The Kentucky women?s tennis team will begin play Thursday at the 2005/ITA Fall Regional Championships in Chapel Hill, N.C. The Championships consist of eight regions and the Wildcats will be competing in the Southeast region.

All six members of the UK women?s team will be in action this weekend.

The 15th-ranked Kim Coventry is looking to rebound from a tough outing at the Riviera/ITA Women?s All-American Tennis Championships last week. Coventry fell in the opening to round to nation's No. 3 player and eventual tournament champion Nicole Leimbach of TCU.

Coventry and her doubles partner Joelle Schwenk, who are ranked No. 9 in the nation, will also be taking part in the tournament?s doubles draw.

Joining Coventry and Schwenk in singles competition will be senior Danielle Petrisko, as well as juniors Lara Maurer, Liis Sober and Caroline Winebrenner.
