April 25, 2012
LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Kentucky women’s tennis team had two members receive Southeastern Conference honors, the league office announced on Wednesday. After impressive breakout seasons, freshmen Stephanie Fox and Edmée Morin-Kougoucheff were named to the SEC All-Freshman Team. Both freshmen made an immediate impact upon their arrivals at UK. She proved her worth in doubles, compiling an even 11-11 record against multiple ranked opponents and tough competitors. Fox provided fierce competition for the Cats throughout the coarse of the season. The Huntington, W.Va., native occupied four of the six singles slots throughout the season, finding the greatest fit in the No. 4 and No. 5 slot where she went 6-7 and 3-3 respectively. She also found great success with sophomore Cece Witten at the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles positions, earning a 5-2 record. This is the first SEC honor for either freshman.
