No. 47 Kentucky Women's Tennis Falls 6-1 at No. 8 Alabama

LEXINGTON, Ky. - The University of Kentucky women's tennis team went down 6-1 to Alabama on Friday afternoon in Tuscaloosa, Ala., while freshman Nadia Ravita continued to build an impressive resume during her freshman season with a win over No. 26 Mary Anne Macfarlane.
The match opened with Alabama quickly claiming the doubles point. Edmee Morin-Kougoucheff and Cece Witten were forced to retire, allowing Alabama to take court two in doubles.
The doubles point was clinched when the sixth-ranked doubles team Alexa Guarachi and Mary Anne Macfarlane won court one 8-1 for Alabama. The third doubles match was abandoned at decision of the doubles point.
The Tide went up 2-0 after Alabama's Alexa Guarachi defeated senior Jessica Stiles 6-2, 6-1 on court two. Court three wrapped up soon after, as junior Khristina Blajkevitch lost 6-1, 6-2 to No. 84 Maya Jansen.
The match was clinched on court four when Antonia Foehse defeated junior Caitlin McGraw 6-2, 6-2 to earn Alabama's fourth point of the match. The match was played out past decision.
A loss for Cece Witten in the No. 6 singles slot allowed Alabama to increase its lead to 5-1.
On court one, No. 24 Ravita knocked off No. 26 Macfarlane in straight sets, 6-4, 7-5. The freshman's win improves her record on the season to 17-3. The win gave Kentucky its first point of the match.
The match wrapped up on court five when sophomore Stephanie Fox went down 7-5, 6-2 to Emily Zabor, finalizing a 6-1 win for the Crimson Tide.
Kentucky returns to action on Sunday, traveling to Auburn to face the 22nd-ranked Tigers. Auburn faced off with No. 19 Vanderbilt on Friday afternoon, dropping the match 5-2.
