No. 46 Kentucky Women's Tennis Loses 7-0 at No. 5 Georgia

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University of Kentucky women’s tennis team lost 7-0 on Sunday at No. 5 Georgia, Kentucky’s second loss to a top-30 opponent this weekend.
The doubles point was clinched on court two as Georgia’s Lauren Herring and Maho Kowase took the court 8-2 from Edmée Morin-Kougoucheff and Cece Witten. The doubles match on court three was abandoned at the decision of the doubles point.
In singles play, court four was the first match to wrap up, as freshman Kirsten Lewis lost to No. 120 Kate Fuller 6-2, 6-0. The Bulldogs went up 3-0 after No. 7 Lauren Herring defeated No. 38 Nadia Ravita 6-3, 6-3. The loss was just Ravita’s third loss of the year and second in Southeastern Conference play. The freshman had won six consecutive singles matches before Sunday.
Georgia clinched the win with a singles win on court three as No. 77 Silvia Garcia from Georgia defeated Morin-Kougoucheff 7-5, 6-0.
Play continued past decision.
Senior Jessica Stiles took court two into three sets, eventually falling to No. 17 Maho Kowase 6-2, 2-6, 6-2.
The Wildcats would also drop courts five and six to eventually lose the match 7-0. Sophomore Stephanie Fox went down 6-0, 6-4 on six, just her fifth loss of the spring. Caitlin McGraw lost 7-6, 6-1 in the No. 5 singles position.
Kentucky will return to action next weekend, traveling to Alabama to face the Crimson Tide on Friday at 4 p.m. before heading to Auburn on Sunday to face the Tigers at noon.
