Johnson Accepts Invite to National Team Selection Camp

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - Senior Molly Johnson has accepted an invitation to attend the 2010 USA Softball Women's National Team Selection Camp in Chula Vista, Calif., Jan. 4-8. The 17-member team plus alternates selected from this camp will represent USA Softball during the 2010 season. Johnson earned an invitation to last year's camp and earned a spot on the 2009 Japan Cup team. She earned one starting nod during the 2009 Japan Cup and competed in four games in helping the United State capture the Cup. In five at-bats during the Japan Cup run, Johnson went three-for-five at the dish and plated a squad-best six runs. The senior for the Blue and White has already been tabbed a team captain for the 2010 season. One of the most prolific players in school history, Johnson is a .395 lifetime batter with 74 career extra base hits while starting all 162 games of her career. Twice in her career she has had hitting streaks of 10 games. Her storied career also includes a number of spots on UK's all-time charts. She ranks first in career-batting average (.395) and slugging percentage (.648). Additionally she ranks second in doubles (45), third in home runs (22), fourth in runs scored (113), fourth in total bases (320), fifth in RBI (110), fifth in stolen bases (46), fifth in defensive assists (379), sixth in hits (195) and seventh in triples (7).
