LEXINGTON, Ky. - University of Kentucky women's soccer player Brooke Keyes was placed on the 2012 Southeastern Conference Community Service Team, it was announced Tuesday by the league office.

Keyes, a native of Mission Viejo, Calif., was selected by head coach Jon Lipsitz to make the overseas trip to Ethiopia in Africa to help support the African community in the area, and perform countless hours of community service in the area. 

The defender also made her mark in other areas of the world, touching lives in Mexico and Argentina in her ventures around the world performing community service.

Also over the summer of 2012, Keyes was invited by the NCAA to attend a national conference in Indianapolis, Ind., where she talked about career leadership and community development as well as leadership on the playing field. 

Keyes maintained over a 3.5 GPA at UK and is set to graduate in the spring with a degree in business management. Keyes was named to the SEC Freshman Honor Roll in 2009 while also earning a spot on the SEC Honor Roll in 2010 and 2011.

The senior has played over 1,000 minutes in her career, appearing in 44 games, earning a starting slot in seven of them.

The UK women's soccer team was selected to host the 2012 NCAA Tournament First Round in Lexington, Ky., as Kentucky will take on UT Martin at 7:00 p.m. ET on Friday night. Tickets for Friday's match against UT-Martin are available for purchase beginning on Wednesday Nov. 9 at 9:00 a.m. ET. Tickets can be purchased by contacting the UK Ticket Office between 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. ET or by calling 1.800.928.2278. Ticket prices are $7 for adults, $5 for students (2-18 years old), $3 for senior citizens (65+), with children under the age of two admitted for free. Any UK student presenting a valid Student ID will be admitted free of charge.
