Women's Soccer Hosts Wright State in Exhibition

LEXINGTON, Ky. -- The University of Kentucky women's soccer team will play host to the Wright State Raiders on Sunday, Aug. 22, at the UK Soccer Complex in an exhibition match slated for 1 p.m.

UK is 3-1 all-time against WSU. The two teams last met in 1995 when the Wildcats came away with a 4-0 victory in Lexington.

The Wildcats, who finished the season 9-9-3 last year and earned an birth in the NCAA Tournament, are led by senior midfielder Allison Peppers and sophomore midfielder Susan Ledzianowski. Peppers was a second-team All-SEC selection last season and has started 63 out of 64 games during her career at UK. Last season, Ledzianowski was a major contributor, scoring three goals and leading the Cats with five assists.

Senior midfielder Taryn Jones will lead WSU into battle as the Raiders' top returning scorer. Jones tallied four goals and three assists for as WSU went 8-11-2.

"We've had seven or eight days of hard preseason work," UK head coach Warren Lipka said. "We look forward to playing to someone else and I think we're physically ready. We'll just have to see how we fare tactically."

UK will open the regular season on Sunday, Aug. 29, at 1 p.m. when the Wildcats play host to the Evansville Purple Aces at the UK Soccer Complex.
