UK Women’s Golf Concludes Play, Led by Kicklighter and Felts
University of Kentucky’s women’s golf team concluded play at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship ahead of SEC competition, Alabama. The Cats turned in an 11th place finish after three days of play at the challenging Cherokee Club in Knoxville, Tenn. Atop the leader board for the Cats was freshman Beth Felts and junior Ali Kicklighter both finishing T-43 for Kentucky.
UK was led by Beth Felts throughout the tournament, recording (73-75) for the first rounds and ending the tournament 231, 18 over-par. Junior, Ali Kicklighter also finished 18-over par, firing a third round 77. Elizabeth Dotson moved up the leader board throughout the day firing a three-over-par 74 to finish 236 (81-81-74). Emily Culbertson moved up six places from day two after shooting two final rounds of 78. Katie Dixon finished fourth for the Cats recording 237 (77-80-80) for the tournament. Playing as an individual for Kentucky, Alanna Silvertrust recorded her second lowest round of the tournament 84 to conclude play.
Returning tournament champion, Ohio State claimed the title for the second straight year beating Tulane and Tennessee who tied for second. Violeta Retamoza finished first atop the player leader board shooting 211 (72-68-71). Retamoza beat out Tulane’s Alison Walshe who finished the tournament two-under.
