Women's Golf Prepares for Mason Rudolph Championship

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Fresh off their tournament victory at the Old Waverly Bulldog Invitational to open their season, the University of Kentucky women’s golf team heads to Franklin, Tenn., to play in the Mason Rudolph Championship, Sept. 21-23. The 54-hole stroke-play tournament will be played at the Vanderbilt Legends Club North Course.
The Wildcats will send out four of the same five golfers they used in the previous tournament, including Ashleigh Albrecht, Liz Breed, Cylia Damerau and Heather Lott. Senior Betsie Johnson will be the new addition to the lineup after a successful week of qualifying.
“It’s been a short turnaround for us but we are looking forward to getting on the road again after last week,” head coach Golda Johansson Borst said. “The Mason Rudolph is a great Championship and we will be facing some of the best teams in the country this weekend. I know my team is excited about the challenge ahead and we will continue to focus on us and playing our own game. We have an experienced lineup and we need to continue to stay with our process and play aggressive golf.”
The field will consist of 15 teams including, Arizona, Chattanooga, Georgia, Memphis, Michigan State, North Carolina, Oregon, Stanford, Texas, Texas A&M, Tulane, Vanderbilt, Virginia and Wake Forest.
Albrecht led the way at the Bulldog Invitational where she finished sixth at 1-over-par. Damerau also finished in the top-10, placing ninth at 4-over-par. Breed and Lott also played well for the Cats finishing 12th and tied for 13th, respectively.
The first round of 18 holes will begin Friday morning starting at 9:00 a.m. (ET). Johnson will tee off first for the Cats with Lott, Breed, Damerau, Albrecht following in nine minute intervals. The Vanderbilt Legends Club North Course will be set up as a par-72, 6,451-yard setup.
