LEXINGTON, Ky. – Following back-to-back NCAA Regional appearances and a program-low scoring average, the University of Kentucky women’s golf team has released their 2012-13 schedule, announced Thursday by head coach Golda Johansson Borst.

“We are really excited about this year’s team and tournament schedule,” said coach Borst. “We have added three freshmen to our roster and we are looking forward to seeing how they will put their mark on our program.”

The Wildcats kick off their 2012 fall campaign Sept. 10-12 in Southeastern Conference territory at Mississippi State’s Old Waverly Bulldog Invitational, held at the Old Waverly Golf Club in West Point, Miss. After a week off, the Wildcats head to Nashville, Tenn., Sept. 21-23 for the Mason Rudolph Championship.

“The two key tournaments to watch this fall are the Mason Rudolph in Nashville and the Tar Heel Invitational in Chapel Hill, N.C.,” said coach Borst. “These two tournaments will have a national championship feel and I am looking forward to the challenge that we will face.”

Kentucky will head to Chapel Hill on Oct. 12-14 for the Tar Heel Invitational before rounding out the fall season by returning to the Alamo Invitational in San Antonio, Texas, on Oct. 28-30. The Wildcats placed fourth at the Alamo Invitational in 2011, led by senior Ashleigh Albrecht and junior Liz Breed’s tie for eighth.

The spring season will begin with a trip to the Caribbean for Kentucky, as the Wildcats head to Puerto Rico for the Lady Puerto Rico Classic on Feb. 10-12. After a month off, the Wildcats head to Augusta, Ga., for the Insperity Lady Jaguar Intercollegiate. The three-day event will take place at Forest Hills Golf Club on March 15-17.

The Wildcats return to Baton Rouge, La., on March 22-24 for a third consecutive year at the LSU Golf Classic. Senior Betsie Johnson led Kentucky at the 2012 LSU Golf Classic as the Wildcats finished seventh overall. Kentucky will wrap up the spring season in Oxford, Miss., for the Rebel Intercollegiate on April 5-7.

Postseason play beings April 19th for the SEC Championship at Greystone Golf & Country Club in Birmingham, Ala. The Wildcats will look to land an NCAA Regional berth for a third consecutive year, being sent to either Auburn, Oklahoma or Stanford on May 9-11. The NCAA National Championships will take place in Athens, Ga., May 21-24.

Kentucky’s 2011-12 season continued the process of taking the program to new heights. The Wildcats bested the program scoring average record by 1.57 strokes and took first overall at the Bettie Lou Evans Fall Invitational, the first victory for the program since 2009. Three top-five finishes in just 10 events marks the most in a season since the 2005-06 team recorded five top-five finishes.
