LEXINGTON, Ky. - University of Kentucky women's golf signee Haley Mills qualified for the North Texas LPGA Shootout after winning the High School Shootout at the Las Colinas Country Club in Irving, Texas on Monday, shooting a 1-under-par, 70. Mills will begin play at the North Texas LPGA Shootout on Thursday. Coverage of the tournament will air Thursday through Sunday on Golf Channel.

"I feel so honored to even have the chance to qualify for an LPGA event, it's just awesome," Mills told LPGA.com. "I didn't think I would shoot 1-under. I was relaxed, but I got nervous the last four holes."

Mills, who signed with UK back in the early November signing period, also has two top-10 finishes to her credit in recent American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) events. The Tyler, Texas native placed tied for 10th in both the Goodman Networks Junior at Traditions (March 28-31) and Under Armour/Hunter Mahan Championship (April 19-21).

Mills was one of three golfers to sign with the Wildcats in the 2013 class, joining Megan Kinney (Frankfort, Ky.) and Alessandra Walker (Paintsville, Ky.). In 2012, she claimed the TJGT Bridlewood Junior Championship and Texas Legends Winter Classic, while advancing to match play at the USGA Girls Junior Amateur Championship.
