Kentucky Places 11th

LEXINGTON, Ky. - The University of Kentucky women's golf team finished the final round of the SunTrust Gator Women's Invitational in 11th. Kentucky shot a 26-over-par 306 on their final day of action in Gainesville, Fla., leaving the Wildcats at 56-over-par 896 on the weekend. Kentucky was led by Betsie Johnson's tie for 11th finish at 8-over-par 218. Johnson had a consistent weekend, shooting a 3-over-par 73 in the final round after shooting a 73 and 72 in the first two rounds. Johnson sunk two birdies on her final day in Gainesville. Host Florida took home the championship after shooting a round-best, 7-over-par 287 in the final round. Florida finished at 24-over-par 864 on the weekend with Alabama finishing in second, just one stroke off Florida at 25-over-par 865. Florida State placed third with a 32-over-par 872 as Georgia finished fourth with a 37-over-par 877. Duke rounded out the top five with a 42-over-par 882. Junior Heather Lott improved on her second round score, shooting a 4-over-par 74 on the final day. Lott finished the weekend in a tie for 24th while shooting 12-over-par 222. Lott sunk a birdie to go along with 13 pars in her last day of action. Sophomore Liz Breed shot a 7-over-par in her final round of play to finish at 13-over-par 223. Breed's six birdies left her in a tie for 28th on the weekend. Junior Megan Moir improved a stroke in her final round, shooting a 12-over-par 82. Moir's 31-over-par 241 left her in a tie for 85th. Senior Ashlee Rose shot a 15-over-par 85 in the last round, finishing 74th at 27-over-par 237. The Wildcats will have a couple weeks off until they return to action April 6-8 at the Bryan National Collegiate in Browns Summit, N.C.
