Women's Golf in Third after Day One of Mason Rudolph

FRANKLIN, Tenn. – The University of Kentucky women’s golf team finished strong on day one of the Mason Rudolph Invitational, with a score of 11-over-par 299. The Wildcats sit in third place with two rounds to be played. Senior Ashleigh Albrecht led the way for Kentucky, carding an even par round, 72. Albrecht bogeyed three holes on the front nine and was 2-over at the turn. The Murrieta, Calif., native birdied three of the final five holes on the back nine to move back to even for the day. Albrecht is tied for fourth overall and is one shot off the leader. Senior Heather Lott played very well for the Wildcats, posting 15 pars and just three bogies on her way to a 3-over-par 75. Lott sits in a tie for 18th place in the invitational. Liz Breed recorded two birdies on the afternoon and is tied for 28th after posting a score of 4-over-par 76. Cylia Damerau concluded her day on a strong note, sinking birdies on holes 17 and 18 and is also tied for 28th at 4-over. Senior Betsie Johnson is tied for 54th after a 7-over-par 79 round. The second of three rounds will resume on Saturday at 9:00 a.m. Johnson is scheduled to tee off first for UK at 10:30 a.m., with Breed, Damerau, Lott and Albrecht to follow, respectively, in nine minute intervals. The field consits of 15 teams including, Arizona, Chattanooga, Georgia, Memphis, Michigan State, North Carolina, Oregon, Stanford, Texas, Texas A&M, Tulane, Vanderbilt, Virginia and Wake Forest.
