Wildcats Move Up Leaderboard on Final Day in Hoover

HOOVER, Ala. – The University of Kentucky women’s golf team moved up four spots on the final day of the 2014 SEC Championship to tie for eighth place at 45-over par, 909, at the Greystone Golf and Country Club.
For the second straight day, UK recorded one of the low team rounds by scoring a 12-over par, 300. No. 13 Vanderbilt won the SEC Championship with a 16-over par, while No. 6 South Carolina (+26), No. 4 Arkansas (+20), No. 7 Alabama (+32) and No. 16 LSU (+34) completed the top five. Vanderbilt’s Simin Feng won the individual title with a score of 7-under par, 209.
Sophomore Cylia Damerau recorded a top 20 finish for the Wildcats by placing 18th with three-day score of 9-over par, 225. For the third straight day Damerau shot a 3-over par, 75. The Cham, Switzerland, native tallied six birdies over the weekend. The 18th place finish marks her second top 20 placing of the season.
For the second straight day senior Liz Breed carded the low Kentucky round, finishing with a 1-over par, 73, on Sunday. After the first day, Breed climbed nearly 40 spots on the leaderboard during the second and third rounds. She tied for 24th with an 11-over par, 227.
Freshman Haley Mills turned in a 2-over par, 74, on Sunday to finish 13-over par, 229, for the tournament. Mills tied for the team lead with six birdies for the weekend.
