UK Remains in Sixth after Two Rounds of UCF Challenge

ORLANDO, Fla. – Two rounds of play are in the books at the UCF Challenge and the University of Kentucky women’s golf team remains in sixth place at four-over par, 580. The Wildcats posted a second round team score of one-over par, 289. Final round action begins Tuesday morning at 8:45 a.m. ET.
UCF continues to sit atop the standings at nine-under par, 567, while Miami (-7), Iowa State (-3), East Tennessee State (-2) and GRU Augusta (+3) complete the top five. UCF’s Fanny Cnops leads all players at seven-under par, 137.
“We had another solid round today and we keep improving,” said Kentucky head coach Golda Johansson Borst. “This golf course is set up well and the girls really like it. Overall, we have had two really steady days and we are looking forward to a third.”
Sophomore Cylia Damerau recorded another steady day on Monday with an even-par, 72. Damerau registered pars on 16 of the 18 holes to go with one bogey and a birdie. Through two days, the Cham, Switzerland, native is tied for 19th at even-par, 144.
Sitting just a stroke behind Damerau is sophomore Sarah Harris at one-over par, 145 and tied for 23rd. Harris was Kentucky’s biggest mover on the day as she climbed all the way from 66th place to 23rd. She turned in a three-under par, 69, on the day thanks in large part to a team-best five birdies, including three straight on holes No. 15, No. 16 and No. 17.
Freshman Alessandra Walker shot a three-over par, 75, to put her in a tie for 28th. Overall, Walker is two-over par, 146, through 36 holes.
Playing as an individual, freshman Megan Kinney turned in a scorecard of seven-over par, 79, for the second straight day. Kinney is tied for 98th at 14-over par, 158.
