LEXINGTON, Kty. -- The University of Kentucky women's basketball team will play host to its second and final exhibition game on Saturday, Nov. 13 at 7 p.m. in Memorial Coliseum versus Premier Players Select.
The Wildcats won their first preseason game on Wednesday in Memorial Coliseum, defeating Sweden 83-75. Sophomore LaTonya McDole led all scorers with 20 points.
The Premier All Stars, combined of former collegiate players from such schools as Ohio State, UMass, Ole Miss, Ohio University and Toledo, are 3-3 in its 10-game schedule. They are led by former Ohio State and Kodak Honorable mention All-American in 1989, Lisa Cline. Cline, who has scored in double digits in all six games for the Stars, also coaches the team.
"We are looking to be more consistent in Saturday's game," UK Coach Bernadette Mattox said. "I was disappointed in our inconsistent defense on Wednesday and we must continue to improve before we hit this brutal regular season schedule."
The Kentucky women's team begins regular season action on Friday, Nov. 19 when it faces Austin Peay in Clarksville, Tenn., at 8 p.m. This season the Cats are looking to better their 21-11 record-breaking season from 1998-99. The Cats participated in the NCAA Tournament for the first time in nine years and won a first round game in the NCAA Tournament for the first time in 17 years.
