LEXINGTON, Ky. -- The Kentucky men’s tennis team returns to the Bluegrass Saturday to host three quality teams, No. 16 Wake Forest, No. 31 Minnesota and No. 41 Michigan, in the Intercollegiate Tennis Associations Kickoff weekend at the Hilary J. Boone Tennis Complex.

The tournament, formally known as the ITA National Indoors Championship Qualifier, consists of four teams seeded one-to-four with the one seed (Kentucky) playing the four (Michigan) and the two seed (Wake Forest) playing the three seed (Minnesota).

The event will start with the Demon Deacons and Gophers squaring off at 10 a.m. EST. Kentucky will then face off against the Wolverines in the second match of the day at 2 p.m. EST. The winners of each match will play in the championship round Sunday at 2 p.m. EST for the chance to advance in the ITA National Team Indoor Championships at the Boar's Head Sports Club at the University of Virginia, Feb. 12-15. The losing teams from the matches Saturday will play in a consolation match on Sunday at 10 a.m. EST.

Kentucky does not have a recent history with Michigan, but has a 3-1 all-time record against the Wolverines dating back to their first meeting in 1976. UK first played Minnesota in 1986 and has a 2-4 all-time record against the Gophers. The last meeting the Wildcats had with Minnesota was in 2003, when the 18th-ranked Gophers downed the eighth-ranked Cats 6-1 in Minneapolis.

The team UK has the most recent history with is Wake Forest, which defeated Kentucky in the NCAA Tournament second round last season in Lexington. UK and Wake Forest also met in the NCAA second round in 2006 with the Demon Deacons coming out victorious.

The ITA Indoor National Championship tournament is the longest running national championship dating back to the 1973 season.

Live stats will be available for each match and a tournament central page, where fans can find information on all four teams as well as parking information, is located at UKathletics.com. Admission to the event is free.
