No. 14 Men's Tennis Earns SEC Home Victory over No. 37 Alabama

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The University men’s tennis team continued its dominance at home this season, winning five of the six singles matches to defeat No. 37 Alabama 5-2 at the Hilary J. Boone Tennis Complex on Saturday.
Kentucky (16-5, 3-2 Southeastern Conference) has now defeated 10 top-50 ranked teams this season, including a 5-2 record at home. The Wildcats are now 11-2 at home this season and 39-8 at the Boone since the start of the 2009 season.
After dropping the doubles point to fall behind early in the match, Kentucky responded in singles, winning five singles matches. No. 4 Eric Quigley was the first to finish for Kentucky by defeating Ricky Doverspike 6-2, 6-3, while freshman Tom Jomby gave UK a lead it would not relinquish when he took down Carlos Taborga 6-3, 7-5 at No. 6 singles.
No. 117 Alberto Gonzalez won his match at No. 4 singles over Vikram Reddy 6-4, 6-3 to give UK a 3-1 lead before junior No. 47 Alex Musialek took down No. 111 Jarryd Botha 7-6, 7-5 to claim the match for UK. Sophomore No. 77 Anthony Rossi wrapped up the scoring for UK with a 7-6, 7-5 win at No. 5 singles over Michael Thompson.
The Wildcats won one doubles match to drop the doubles point for the first time in seven matches. The doubles win came at No. 3 doubles when Musialek and Rossi took down Daniil Proskura and Trey Watson 8-3.
Kentucky will return to action Tuesday when it hosts a doubleheader with Maryland and Eastern Kentucky starting at Noon ET at the Hilary J. Boone Tennis Complex.
