LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Sporting a 3.91 GPA as a mechanical engineering major and leading Kentucky in scoring, junior forward Tyler Riggs has been voted first-team Capital One Academic All-District by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

A native of Louisville, Ky., Riggs was honored on the CoSIDA All-District Academic team for the second consecutive year. One of the top scorers in program history, Riggs leads UK with seven goals and four assists in 2012, despite missing two games due to injury and coming off the bench in the last two contests.

A 2011 All-Conference USA selection, Riggs has had a dynamic career through his junior season, owning 23 goals and nine assists (55 points) in his career, firing 100 shots and bagging six game-winning goals. A product of St. Xavier High School, Riggs had 11 goals and five assists in 2011 and had five goals in 2010. Riggs ranks seventh in UK career history in points, fifth in goals and eighth in game-winning goals.

Kentucky (9-7-1, 4-2-1 C-USA) returns to action with its final regular-season game of the year on Sunday, hosting South Carolina at 1 p.m. ET at the UK Soccer Complex. The game will be televised live by the UK/IMG Network, available on Fox Sports South regionally and on CWkyt-TV locally. Dave Baker (play-by-play) and former UK standout J.D. Stephenson (color) will call the game. A native of Tulsa, Okla., Stephenson ranks second in UK history with 79 starts and tied for 12th with four game-winning goals from 1999-02.
