Soccer Cats Travel to River City for Date with Bearcats

The University of Kentucky men's soccer team begins a three-game road trip when it travels to Cincinnati for a matchup with the Bearcats on Sunday, Sept. 30. Action is slated to get underway at Meyers Field at 3 p.m.
UK (4-3-1) is looking to get back on the winning track after dropping a tough 1-0 overtime decision to intrastate-rival Louisville on Wednesday night. John Monebrake, Antti Peltonen and J.D. Stephenson lead the Cats with three goals each. Peltonen was named Mid-American Conference Player of the Week on Sept. 25 for his three-goal, one-assist performance last weekend against Western Michigan and Northern Illinois.
In goal for Kentucky, Brad Samelko has logged all 786 minutes, collecting two shutouts. He has nabbed 37 saves, including a career-high nine at WMU, while allowing just nine goals for a 1.03 goals-against average.
The Bearcats (1-4-2) also are coming off an overtime loss, 2-1 to UNC Charlotte. Wiremu Patrick and Shane Curran lead UC with six points each on three goals. Patrick scored the game-winner in Cincy's only victory of the season, a 2-1 triumph over Dayton.
Derek Moore has logged every minute in goal for Cincinnati, collecting 33 saves while surrendering 13 goals for a 1.65 GAA.
