Men's Soccer Falls In Double-Overtime To Cincinnati, 2-1
Jason Bell nets goal for Wildcats in loss.
LEXINGTON, Ky. (Sept. 26, 1999) -- The University of Kentucky men's soccer team dropped a 2-1 double-overtime heartbreaker to Cincinnati on Sunday at the UK Soccer Complex.
UC's Rick Wood opened scoring at 33:03 on a header and it seemed the goal would be the game-winner, until, with just 10 seconds left, UK's Jason Bell found the back of the net at 89:50 to even the score at 1-1.
After one scoreless 15-minute overtime period, the game appeared headed for a tie, but the Bearcats' Myron Vaughn scored in the 116th minute to clinch the win for UC.
Cincinnati improves to 6-1-1 with the victory, while UK drops its third straight to fall to 4-3.
During the match, the Cats held a 19-12 shot advantage and led UC 13-9 in corner kicks.
UK will look to get back in the win column on Friday, Oct. 1, when the Cats host Marshall in their Mid-American Conference opener. Kick off is set for 7:30 p.m. at the UK Soccer Complex.
