LEXINGTON, Ky. – Coming off a fourth-place finish at the rain-shortened Inverness Intercollegiate Invitational, the University of Kentucky men’s golf team is now preparing to tee off at the Bearcat Invitational in Hebron, Ky., on Monday.

The Bearcat Invitational, hosted by Cincinnati at the Traditions Club (par 71, 7,050 yards), is the fourth tournament of the fall season for the Wildcats. Kentucky enters the two-day, 54-hole tournament coming off back-to-back top-five finishes, including a team victory at the UK Bluegrass Fall Invitational.

Kentucky will play sophomore Cody Martin, junior Chase Parker, junior Joseph Barr, senior Mads Kristensen and sophomore Stephen Powers. The Wildcats will also play sophomore Matthew Anderson, freshman David Snyder, freshman Will Bishop, junior Seth Blann and freshman Todd McDaniel as a “B” team that will be listed in the results of the tournament, but will not factor into Kentucky’s record or national rankings.

“This is a great opportunity for us to play our entire team in the Bearcat Invitational,” UK head coach Brian Craig said. “We will have a first and second team playing which will allow all of our guys to get valuable tournament experience outside of Lexington. We are very appreciative to Cincinnati’s golf coach, Doug Martin, for allowing us to bring everyone on the roster. Traditions Golf Club is an excellent and demanding test of golf as well. It is the type of course that will separate the field and we are looking forward to the challenge.”

Kentucky will be competing against 13 other teams, including Austin Peay, Bowling Green, Belmont, Cleveland State, Dayton, Eastern Kentucky, Georgetown University, Marshall, Morehead State, Oakland, Ohio, Youngstown State and host school Cincinnati.

Thirty-six holes will be played Monday beginning at 8:45 a.m. ET with a shotgun start. The tournament will conclude Tuesday with 18 holes and another shotgun start beginning at 8:30 a.m.

UK has been led by Martin this season, a Union, Ky., native who has finished in the top-five in each of the first three tournaments of the season. Of the seven rounds played this season, Martin has carded five rounds of even par or better and currently has an 18-hole stroke average of 70.14.

This is the first time Kentucky has played in the Bearcat Invitational under the tutelage of Craig.
