UK Men's Golf Team in 11th After Two Rounds

The University of Kentucky men's golf team stands in 11th place after two rounds of play at the Mason Rudolph Collegiate Golf Tournament in Nashville, Tenn. North Carolina State leads the highly-competitive tournament, with the final round set to be played on Tuesday.

Freshman John Holmes led UK with an impressive performance to begin his career as a Wildcat. The first-year golfer out of Campbellsville, Ky., shot an opening round 68 to kick-off the tournament and his collegiate career in remarkable fashion. He finished the day in 18th place with a 1-over par 141. Other UK scores were Philip Schardein at 144, Mark Blakefield at 147, Ryan Coyne at 150 and John Beckett at 162.

The tournament is set to conclude on Tuesday, Sept. 18, with play beginning in a shotgun start at 8 a.m.
