May 2, 2002
Lexington, Ky. - The University of Kentucky men's golf team signed Maitland, Fla., native, Matt Kohn for the 2002-03 season, Coach Brian Craig announced Thursday. Kohn comes to UK from Lyman High School and is the first recruit to sign with Craig's squad this year.
Kohn comes to the Bluegrass with an impressive list of accomplishments. Along with earning a spot as a quarterfinalist in the U.S. Amateur Public Links in 2001, Kohn also secured medalist honors at the 1998 U.S. Amateur Sectional Qualifier and the 2001 U.S. Amateur Public Links. Kohn is currently the course record holder at Rolling Hills Country Club with a 63.
"Matt has great athletic ability and unlimited potential," Craig said. "He has the ability to shoot very low scores and win college golf tournaments. I look for Matt to make an immediate impact on our team this upcoming season."
Kohn will make his Wildcat debut in the fall of 2002.
