Kentucky will be looking to continue its recent hot play this weekend when it travels to face an all-star field of nationally-ranked teams in the Schenkel E-Z-GO Invitational at the Forest Heights Country Club in Statesboro, Ga.

“The Schenkel E-Z-GO has one of the best fields of the year,” UK head coach Brian Craig said. “The best teams from the SEC and from across the country will be there and the time is now for us to play good golf.”

The tournament is hosted by Georgia Southern University and will feature a stellar line-up that includes five teams from the top 15, four of which are SEC teams, and another eight teams that rank in top 50. The field consists of: Alabama (No. 2), Tennessee (No. 8), Auburn (No. 11), Florida (No. 12), Michigan State (No. 15), South Carolina (No. 20), North Carolina (No. 23), Alabama-Birmingham (No. 29), North Carolina State (No. 38), Augusta State (No. 44), North Florida (No. 46), Louisiana State (No. 48), Kentucky (No. 60), Minnesota (No. 62), Notre Dame (No. 72), Georgia Southern (No. 98), New Mexico (No. 108) and Boston College (No. 187).

For the second tournament in a row Kentucky is going with the starting lineup of senior Brad Doster, senior Cale Barr, junior Ben Fuqua, sophomore Brian Belden, as well as the tournament winner at the Palmas Del Mar Intercollegiate over the weekend, junior Andy Winings.

“We need to step up and play great if we are going to have a successful run into the post-season,” Craig said.

Last year Georgia won the tournament after shooting a 10-under-par 854 over three days. Georgia’s Chris Kirk also took individual honors when he carded a six-under 210 for first place. Kentucky finished 16th in the tournament led by strong play from Cale Barr ( Versailles, Ky.) and Andy Winings ( Brownsburg, Ind.) who both tied for the 41st spot shooting a nine-over-par 225 for the tournament.

The 54-hole tournament starts this Friday morning and will consist of 18-holes played Friday through Sunday, on the 6,962 yard, par-72 Forest Heights Country Club. Tee time is scheduled for 9 a.m. ET on Friday and Saturday. Sunday’s tee time is 8 a.m. The awards ceremony will wrap up the tournament beginning at approximately 3 p.m. on Sunday.
