Wildcat Men's Golf Finishes Eleventh In Opening Tourney

IOWA CITY, Iowa - The University of Kentucky menís golf team finished in 11th place at the Hawkeye Intercollegiate with a three round total of 896 after posting a 296 in Sundayís final round. The Wildcats had stood in 13th place after Saturdayís two-rounds, but were able to move up two spots with their best round of the tourney. Kent University won the tournament played at Finkbine Golf Course in Iowa City, Iowa with a team score of 859.
UK sophomore Philip Schardein capped his fine two rounds of 147 (75-72) from Saturday by shooting a 76 and remaining the low man for the Cats with a 223. Senior Ryan Rieckhoff had the teamís low round of 72 on Sunday for a three-round total of 226. The low round of the tourney was a 211 (70-70-71) by Kentís Dustin Risdon.
The Wildcats are not scheduled to compete again until the Legends Invitational in Franklin, Ind. on Oct. 4-5.
