Jenkins is SEC Defensive Lineman of the Week

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Defensive end Ventrell Jenkins has been named the Southeastern Conference Defensive Lineman of the Week by the league office in honor of his performance in Saturday’s 14-13 victory at Mississippi State.
Jenkins, a senior from Columbia, S.C., had four tackles against the Bulldogs, three of which involved quarterback sacks. He shared sacks with Johnny Williams and Ricky Lumpkin and had a solo sack in the fourth quarter. The Wildcat defense totaled four sacks in the game and limited MSU to a net 43 rushing yards.

Smith, a freshman from Louisville, Ky., and Cessna, a redshirt freshman from London, Ky., were honored for their efforts on offense and defense, respectively, in helping the Wildcats prepare for Saturday’s 14-13 win at Mississippi State. Johnson, a freshman from Nashville, Tenn., was recognized for his work on special teams.
Vanderbilt Game Selected by ESPN2: The Vanderbilt at Kentucky football game on Sat. Nov. 15 has been selected for live national cablecast on ESPN2, the Southeastern Conference has announced. Game time will be 8 p.m.
The game will represent Kentucky’s seventh live national or regional telecast of the season, in addition to Louisville (ESPN), Alabama (CBS), Arkansas (ESPNU), and South Carolina, Florida and Georgia (Raycom).
Women’s Basketball Season Opener Moved to 2 p.m.: In response to the Vanderbilt football game on Nov. 15 being set at 8 p.m., the Kentucky women’s basketball team will play its season opener vs. Michigan at 2 p.m. that day in Memorial Coliseum.
Fans with tickets to the Vanderbilt football game will receive free admission to the Michigan basketball game by showing their ticket at the entrance of Memorial Coliseum.
