LEXINGTON, Ky. – University of Kentucky quarterback Mike Hartline has received a pair of honors for his accomplishments in Saturday’s 31-28 come-from-behind victory over South Carolina.

Hartline was one of three players named National Performer of the Week by the College Football Performance Awards, sharing the top recognition with quarterback Carson Coffman of Kansas State and Landry Jones of Oklahoma.  Hartline also was one of five players named National Quarterback of the Week by the same organization.

Hartline and Phillips each received one of five “helmet stickers” awarded by ESPN.com for Saturday’s Southeastern Conference action.  The helmet stickers were chosen by Chris Low, SEC beat writer for ESPN.com.

Hartline completed 32-of-42 passes for 349 yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions, posting career highs for completions, yardage and TDs.  He rallied UK from a 28-10 halftime deficit, throwing three touchdowns in the second half for the comeback victory.

Phillips was recognized for his team’s perseverance during its recent struggles.

“A lot of teams would have folded their tents after getting down 28-10, especially coming off three straight losses. But there’s a toughness and a resilience about the Wildcats that reflects their head coach. Their 31-28 comeback win over South Carolina was Kentucky’s first ever over a Steve Spurrier-coached team, and props go out to Phillips for keeping his team in tune mentally and emotionally during a very difficult stretch,” Low wrote.
