Louisville UK Alumni Club to Host Pep Rally Dec. 15
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Kentucky Alumni Association’s Greater Louisville chapter will once again host a pep rally prior to UK’s annual basketball game in Louisville this year. The UK Pre-Game Pep Rally precedes the UK-UAB game at Freedom Hall on Saturday, Dec. 15.
The event will begin at 11:30 a.m. and will feature fun, food and festivities for the entire family. It will include the Wildcat mascot, giveaways, UK merchandise for sale, face-painting, a basketball toss game and music, along with UK’s cheerleaders, dance team, pep band and a Big Blue Santa Claus. Fans will be able to enjoy lunch selecting from a wide variety of food that will be for sale. A cash bar will also be available.
The Alumni Club will give away blue “Go Cats!” spirit towels to the first 3,000 UK fans at the pep rally.
The pep rally will be held at the Kentucky Exposition Center’s North Wing (formerly called the East Wing). The Wildcats will play the Blazers at 2 p.m.
Admission is free for UK Alumni Association members who present their membership card, and only $5 for others. Children 12 and under get in free. (You must have a game ticket to get into the pep rally.)
“We’re encouraging UK fans to come out to the pep rally, eat lunch with us, have some fun and get ready to cheer on the Cats to victory,” said local UK Alumni Club president Susan Mountjoy. “Ticket sales for the game have been brisk, and UK fans in the Louisville area are eager to see Coach Billy Gillispie and the Cats in action. With this combination, we anticipate this year’s pep rally to be one of the largest ever.”
The club’s previous UK pep rally events have drawn 2,000 to 3,000 fans.
