Update: FanCam has arrived!

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Thousands of Kentucky fans will have a chance to prove they were present at the Kentucky Basketball Game as they take on UNC, when the UK FanCam comes to Rupp Arena.

Fans will need to be in their seats 18 minutes prior to tipoff (12 minutes on the pregame clock), because at that time an ultra-high-def, 5 billion pixel 360 degree image will be taken from center court.

This high-definition image will capture Rupp Arena in its entirety, and the image takes between 5-7 minutes to shoot. Once rendered, fans will be able to “step inside” the 360 gigapixel image and look around, as if they were standing on the court for a frozen moment of time.

The resolution of 5 billion pixels is so high that fans will be able to zoom in to find themselves or friends, “tag” themselves in the photo, and share via email, Facebook and Twitter.  Fans can even cruise around the arena to see who else was in the stands.

Fans will also have the chance to win tickets to an upcoming Women’s Basketball Game by checking out the competition inside the FanCam where you will have to find Women’s Basketball Head Coach Matthew Mitchell

Follow updates on www.ukathletics.com and the UK Athletics official Facebook page, and will be notified on those sites once the FanCam is available for “tagging” on Sunday, Dec 4.
