Scouting the Falcons
Montevallo capped the 2012-13 season with an at-large bid to the NCAA Division II tournament, falling in the opening round to Barton College.
Montevallo, earned an at-large bid in the Southeast Region, and made its eighth NCAA Division II men's basketball tournament appearance in the last 10 years, including its fourth-consecutive appearance in the national tournament. The Falcons were the defending NCAA Division II Southeast Region tournament champions.
Montevallo, in its fifth season as a member of the Peach Belt Conference and the NCAA Division II Southeast Region, captured its third region tournament title in school history in 2011- 12 on its way to the school's first ever appearance in the national championship game. The Falcons also captured NCAA Division II South Region tournament championships during the 2005-2006 and 2006-2007 seasons.
The Falcons won the 2013 Peach Belt Conference West Division championship for the second-consecutive season. Montevallo advanced to the Peach Belt Conference tournament championship game before falling to East Division champion USC Aiken 65-60.
Montevallo is led by junior Troran Brown who garnered preseason accolades from a pair of preseason men's basketball publications. Brown was named an All-American by the Division II Bulletin, the weekly newsletter of Division II men's basketball. Brown was also named a honorable mention All-American by The Sporting News.
The Division II Bulletin also named Brown its preseason PBC Player of the Year and predicted the Falcons to capture their third consecutive PBC West Division regular season championship.
Brown led the Falcons last season with an average of 18.7 points per game and 5.8 assists per game. Brown was named first team All-PBC while also garnering second team National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) and Daktronics NCAA Division II All-Southeast Region honors.
UK in Exhibition Games
Kentucky has rolled up a 50-4 all-time mark in exhibition games following a 76-42 victory over Transylvania on Friday. The Wildcats have won 36 of their last 37 exhibition games and are currently on a 21-game winning streak in such games.
