Changes Await Fans Attending UKs Exhibition Opener at Rupp Arena Tuesday
Kentucky will open its 2003-04 season with an exhibition game against Team Nike on Tuesday, Nov. 4 at 7:30 p.m.. In light of recent construction, Lexington Center recommends the following ways to access Rupp Arena in order to expedite entry into the arena.

Patrons entering from the Main Street level will cross over Vine Street through the entrance doors at The Shops at Lexington Center, take one escalator up to level two, and then use the new escalators on the North side of the building leading directly into the Arena Lobby.

Fans who have traditionally used the stair tower off Main Street for entry will now enter through the mall off Main Street and take the escalators up to access the arena.

Those entering from the Hyatt Lobby and/or off the former plaza on High Street should be aware that "the bridge" is no longer in use. Patrons will now be directed through the new expanded Arena Lobby to the entrance of Rupp.

Patrons entering from the High Street parking lots may access the new arena lobby directly from the High Street sidewalk.

Fans are also reminded that Rupp Arena is a non-smoking facility. With the recent construction, there will be only one designated smoking area for the arena, which is located on the west side of the arena, near the student entrance. Access to this smoking area is through doors located across from Sections 35 or 38.

Fans are encouraged to allow plenty of time to enter security and to locate new and unfamiliar points of entry.

Ticket Will-Call Relocated
Due to on-going construction and renovations at Rupp Arena, the ticket office has been relocated to the second level of the Lexington Civic Center directly behind Orvis Clothing Store. Fans entering on the main level should take the escalator down one level and go to the left. The player will-call area will remain in the same location as past years on the main level.

Arena Continues Strict Security Measures
Officials at Lexington Center Corporation, which operates Rupp Arena, announced plans to continue strict security measures adopted last season in the wake of the Sept. 11 tragedy. Items that cannot be brought into the arena include weapons, backpacks, bags, flag poles, containers made of glass, aluminum, plastic and/or paper, food, ice chests, video cameras, alcoholic beverages, artificial noisemakers, or any object considered dangerous to patrons in Rupp Arena.

Fans are permitted to bring in cell phones, pagers, still cameras, small purses, binoculars, small radios, diaper bags and seat cushions. All items brought into the arena are subject to search.

Once again, the UK Basketball Museum, located in the adjacent Civic Center, will check coats and bags for $2.
