Suffered a torn ACL in his right knee on June 24 while playing in a pickup game at UK... Underwent reconstructive knee surgery on July 2 and is expected to return in January 2002... Under heavy expectations, made the SEC All-Freshman team... Must improve free-throw shooting, rebounding and his offense with his left hand... Strong and powerful on the block.

2000-01
Made the All-SEC Freshman Team... Saved his best performance for the season finale against Southern Cal – a career-high 22 points and 13 boards, nine on the offensive end... Shot 9-of-13 from the field and recorded two blocks.... It was his second double-double of the season, the third time he recorded double-figure rebounds... Started every game, becoming the first freshman under Tubby Smith at UK to start his first collegiate game... Shared the team’s Most Improved Award… Finished third on the team in scoring (8.6 ppg) and second in rebounding (4.7 rpg)... Averaged 9.7 ppg in the SEC Tournament... After an 0-for-5 shooting performance vs. Arkansas, scored 19 points vs. Auburn... Went 5-for-5 shooting at Tennessee (2/14/01) to finish with 10 points and five boards... Spent the 2000 season at Fork Union (Va.) Military Academy, where he averaged 20 points and 10 rebounds per game… Was one of eight Division I signees to play for Coach Fletcher Arritt at Fork Union.

High School
Graduated from West Charlotte High School in 1999 after leading the Lions to the Class 4A State Championship as a senior… After the season, he was named the AP Player of the Year for the second consecutive season and a Parade All-American… The ’99 squad finished with a 30-2 record and a No. 8 ranking by USA Today… The Lions’ only losses came at the hands of national powers Oak Hill Academy and Mt. Zion… Parker averaged 19.5 points, 11.2 rebounds and four assists per game and was named MVP of the state tournament… He scored 38 points and grabbed 12 rebounds in the state title game played in the Dean Smith Center at Chapel Hill … As a junior, he guided the Lions to a 27-4 mark and a state semifinal finish, averaging 19 points and 15 rebounds per game… He also was named the Southwest Conference 4A Player of the Year both seasons as well and earned Gatorade Player of the Year honors as a senior… Scored 30 points and grabbed 15 rebounds in the Dada Classic in Los Angeles against basketball stars Jamal Crawford and Leon Smith… He chose UK over Cincinnati, Michigan, UNC Charlotte and Wake Forest.
