LEXINGTON, Ky. -- A pair of strong starts from southpaws Dylan Dwyer and A.J. Reed highlighted a seven-inning Kentucky baseball fall scrimmage, a 3-0 Black win, on Friday afternoon at Cliff Hagan Stadium.

Dwyer and Reed dominated through the first four innings, with Dwyer tossing four shutout innings with two hits, two walks and two strikeouts. For Blue, Reed worked three shutout innings, allowing a pair of first-inning hits, without allowing a walk and striking out two. Sophomore right-hander Chandler Shepherd worked the final three innings for Blue, allowing only one earned run. Junior lefty Corey Littrell, a 2012 All-Southeastern Conference starter, hurled two shutout innings to end the scrimmage, allowing two hits and one walk, striking out two.

Black got all of its runs in the top of the fifth inning for the 3-0 win. Sophomore centerfielder Austin Cousino collected two hits, Max Kuhn singled and doubled, Zach Arnold added an RBI single, Jeff Boehm doubled and Dorian Hairston added two singles through the infield. Freshman catcher Greg Fettes also added a single.

Blue was led offensively by a three-hit game from junior outfielder Lucas Witt. Freshman infielder Thomas Weaver drew a walk, with freshman catcher Casey Schroeder adding a single through the left side and an infield knock in the sixth.

Black got on the board in the top of the fifth inning, as Kuhn led off with a double off the wall in left-centerfield. Thomas Bernal then chopped a grounder to the right side that went as an error on freshman second baseman Andrew Bryant, allowing Kuhn to take third and Bernal to advance to first. After a hard-hit Matt Reida line-out, Arnold reached on an infield single to the left side, plating Kuhn for the first run of the game. Boehm then laced a double into the left-centerfield gap to score Bernal for a 2-0 Black lead. Dorian Hairston added a run with a single through the right side, scoring Boehm from second, with the dive to the plate just beating the tag from Schroeder.

The three-game weekend will continue on Saturday with a 12:30 p.m. ET eight-inning scrimmage. On Sunday, the teams will play six innings at 12:30 p.m. ET at Cliff Hagan. All game times are subject to change.
