Madison on Tyler: "It's good to have a healthier Gordy Tyler on our team this year. He's still not 100 percent but he's a lot closer to 100 percent than he was last year coming off that serious ankle surgery. He was elected one of our captains and he is providing solid leadership on and off the field." 2002: Responsible for UK’s only run in a 3-1 loss at UAB when he cracked his first home run of the season (2/17)... Ripped a two-RBI double in the third inning to begin the Wildcats’ scoring in thier 6-5 extra-inning win over Ball State on March 10... Posted two hits in three straight games, going 6-for-12 (.500) from March 1 to March 5... Brought home the Wildcats’ two runs with a double in the fourth inning in UK’s 4-2 setback to Mississippi State in the first game at the new Cliff Hagan Stadium (3/23)... Ripped an RBI double and scored a run in a 2-for-3 performance against the Thundering Herd of Marshall (4/9)... Recorded his first career four-hit performance when he went 4-for-5 in UK’s 10-inning setback to South Carolina on April 26... Posted the Cats’ only home run in the Vanderbilt series, a three-run blast in the 19-7 win (5/11)... Went 3-for-5, scored four runs and drove in five in a SEC road win over Vandy (5/11)... Finished the weekend in Nashville going 5-for-9 (.556) with five runs scored and six RBIs... Hit .385 (5-for13) in the Florida series collecting five RBIs and double and three home runs... 2000: Saw action in 30 games, making 14 starts and batting .300 during his rookie campaign…Got his first hit, an RBI single, in UK’s 11-2 win over Navy (2/20)… Went 2-for-2 with a run scoring triple against Yale (3/8)…Stole his first and only base of the season in the Cats 10-4 defeat of Lincoln Memorial (3/14)…Had four multi-hit games, the last coming against South Carolina on April 22, when he went 2-for-4, reached base three times, knocked home a run and scored one himself. High School: Lettered six years at Webster Co., where he was coached by Greg Pirtle... Was an All-State, All-District and All-Conference pick... Went .530 with nine home runs and .988 slugging percentage as a senior... Was 8-1 on the mound with a 0.92 ERA... Played with a USA squad that traveled to Aruba in 1996... 2001: Led the Wildcats in batting average, posting a .343 (57-for-166) in 166 plate appearances… Penciled into the starting lineup in 44 of his 45 games played at first base and in the outfield… Tied for second on the team with 12 doubles… His .500 slugging percentage was second only to Vince Harrison’s .521… Tied for the team lead with Harrison in on-base percentage with .392… Led team in putouts with 336… Hit four homers and drove in 29 runs… Collected two or more hits in 16 of 45 games played… Posted three-hit games at Xavier (3/28), at LSU (4/1), at Florida (4/7), and at Mississippi State (4/21)… Stepped up to the plate in the fourth inning against Appalachian State and nailed a three-run homer to right-center, leading the Cats to an 8-3 victory (2/16)… With two on and one out, launched his second home run of the year to defeat Kent State, 10-7, on March 3… Posted four RBI against the Golden Flashes of KSU (3/3)… Cracked a two-run triple as a part of UK’s five-run ninth inning, beating 7th ranked LSU 9-5 (4/1)… Recorded an 11-game hit streak from March 3 to March 21… Hit .348 in SEC play.
