K Fund Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Why should I give to UK Athletics?
By investing in the K Fund you are providing support to more than 500 student-athletes, helping to ensure their academic and athletic success.  The tradition and excellence of UK Athletics would not be possible without the suppport of K Fund members.  The cumulative effect of each K Fund member is evident as over 90% of the K Fund memberships are between $100-$1000 annual giving levels.  With your gift, you are moving UK Athletics closer to its goal of remaining fiscally sound while providing student-athletes with the best possible experience.  You can download the current K Fund Brochure here.

Q: How do I join the K Fund?
Anyone can become a K Fund member by making a donation.  You can join by contacting any staff member of the K Fund or you may give online by logging into your My UK Account.

Q: Will my donation be tax deductible?
Yes, all general donations to the K Fund are 100% tax deductible.

Q: Does the K Fund require a donation for all of its seats?
Yes, all K Fund football and basketball seating requires a donation. This donation is 80% tax deductible.

Q: Are the donations for football and basketball seating the same?
No, football and basketball seating donations vary depending on seat location.

Q: How do I obtain new basketball season tickets?
New season tickets are awarded based on two criteria: total K fund points and number of available seats. Season tickets are awarded to the donors with the most K Fund points. The number of season tickets awarded each year and level of K Fund points needed to obtain tickets varies year to year depending upon availability.

Q: Will there be an opportunity to improve my seats or purchase additional seats?
Reassignment of K Fund seats is evaluated on a year-by-year basis. This process begins at the end of each year's renewal season. To make a request for a new seat location or additional seats, complete the section on the ticket renewal statement and return it with your renewal. Seats will be offered to K Fund members according to their priority point ranking in comparison to other donors requesting a change in season tickets.

Q: What is the K Fund Priority Point System?
The priority point system is to ensure that those who are the most supportive of UK Athletics get the best seats at UK Athletic events.  It is utilized to ensure a fair and equitable allocation of seats for UK home events, and assigning tickets for away and post-season events.  The priority point system is designed to reward loyalty and total dollar contributions in support of UK Athletics.  You can learn more about the priority point system by clicking here.

Q: Do I have to pay a donation every year to retain my seats?
Yes.  All football and basketball seats in the K Fund areas require an annual seat donation each year to retain the same seats.

Q: What are the benefits of becoming a K Fund member?
Other than the greatest benefit of knowing you are helping a student-athlete with his or her education, there are other benefits to becoming a K Fund member. Please refer to the Benefit Levels page for details.

Q: How do I get parking privileges for Football and Basketball?
Season parking passes for football continue to be sold out each year; therefore, all new, additional, and upgrade requests are placed on a wait list in order of priority rank.  After renewal deadline, season parking passes which are not renewed are then allocated to those on the wait list via the priority point system.  This applies to ALL football season parking permits.  To be eligible for Rupp Arena basketball season parking pass, you must be a basketball season ticket holder and a K Fund member at the All-American annual giving level.  Click here to learn more about Parking Permits.

Q: What does the K Fund do with the money I donate?
Your donation goes towards student-athlete scholarships (tuition, room & board), academic support, career development, athletic facilities, coaches and administrative support.  Your gift gives the opportunity for UK Athletics to provide the best possible student-athlete experience, academic success, and winning championships.
