The University of Kentucky Blue & White Fund was established in 1973 to provide a funding resource for student-athlete
scholarships and a means to build and upgrade athletic facilities. In September
2002, we revamped the Blue & White Fund and created the K Fund in an effort
to: ensure fairness and equity in the season ticket allocation process; keep
up with the rising cost of our student-athlete's tuition; and maintain a competitive
advantage against other SEC and NCAA schools.
By investing in the K Fund, you are providing support to more than 500 UK
student-athletes, helping to ensure their academic and athletic success. These
donations are used to provide:
- Student-Athlete Scholarships - tuition, room and board
- Academic Support and Career Development
- Athletics Facilities Maintenance
- Coaches and Administrative Support
With your gift, you are moving UK Athletics closer to its goal of remaining
fiscally sound, providing student-athletes with the best possible experience,
doing everything with integrity, and winning championships.
Q: How do I join the K Fund?
A: Anyone can become a K Fund member by making a donation.
Q: Will my donation be tax
deductible?
A: Yes, all general donations to the K Fund are 100% tax deductible.
Q: Does the K Fund require a donation for all of its seats?
A: Yes, all K Fund football and basketball seating requires a donation. This
donation is 80% tax deductible.
Q: Are the donations for football and basketball seating the same?
A: No, football and basketball seating donations vary depending on seat location.
Q: How do I obtain new basketball season tickets?
A: New season tickets are awarded based on two criteria: total K fund points
and number of available seats. Season tickets are awarded to the donors with
the most K Fund points. The number of season tickets awarded each year and
level of K Fund points needed to obtain tickets varies year to year depending
upon availability.
Q: I have had public seats for many years. Will I now be required to pay a
donation to retain my current seats?
A: If your current public seats are located in a designated K Fund area, a
donation will be required.
Q: Do I have to pay a donation every year to retain my seats?
A: Yes, all football and basketball seats in the K Fund areas require a donation
each year to retain the same seats.
Q: Will the donation for my seats remain the same each year or will it increase
in the future?
A: The cost of scholarships continues to increase each year, therefore we do
anticipate future rate increases.
Q: What are the benefits of
becoming a K Fund member?
A: Other than the greatest benefit of knowing you are helping a student-athlete
with his or her education, there are other benefits to becoming a K Fund member.
Please refer to the Benefit
Levels page for details.
Q: What does the K Fund do with the money I donate?
A: Your donation goes towards student-athlete scholarships, academic support,
career development, athletic facilities and administrative support.
Q: Will there be an opportunity to improve my seats or purchase additional
seats?
A: Reassignment of K Fund seats is evaluated on a year-by-year basis. This
process begins at the end of each year's renewal season. To make a request
for a new seat location or additional seats, complete the section on the ticket
renewal statement and return it with your renewal. Seats will be offered to
K Fund members according to their priority point level in comparison to other
donors requesting a change in season tickets.
Q: What happens to the donations I made prior to the K Fund?
A: All donations to the Blue & White Fund will be incorporated into the
new K Fund; therefore, your lifetime level of giving remains the same and points
will be allocated accordingly.
