Morgan Qualifies for NCAA Championship
Nov. 13, 2001
LEXINGTON, Ky. - University of Kentucky cross country junior Thomas Morgan received an at-large bid to the 2001 NCAA Championships in Greenville, S.C., on Monday, Nov. 19. Morgan finished 19th at the NCAA Regional in Greenville last weekend and was selected after the NCAA picked four teams instead of the customary two from the South region.
Morgan has enjoyed a great 2001 season, finishing in the top 10 in four of his five fall races. He finished third in both the Loyola Lakeshore Invitational in Chicago, Ill., and the Louisville Cardinal Open in Louisville, Ky. He led the Wildcats at the 2001 SEC Championships, finishing a team-best ninth.
This will be Morgan's third time racing in Greenville this season after competing at the Furman Pre-NCAA Invitational on Oct. 13 before running in last weekend's NCAA Regional. Monday's race will be run on the Furman University Golf Course starting at 11:30 a.m. on Nov. 19.
