As proof, UK boasts Nutter Field House, an $8.5 million climate-controlled structure that is used for winter conditioning and indoor track and field meets. In the Fall of 2012 the program added the outdoor track and field facility to bring the Kentucky training and competition venues to the top of the sport. Nutter Field House features an artificial turf football field of 108,000 square feet, surrounded by a six-lane, 290-meter track. One of the most unique features of this 132,00-square foot, multi-million dollar building is the electronic netting system. The system allows for different combinations of sports to practice safely and simultaneously by dividing the playing field into multiple practice areas. With grandstand seating for nearly 3,000 spectators, a video scoreboard to go along with a beautiful Meet Administration Building, the UK Track and Field program boasts one of the finest oudoor homes in the country and the world. The facility is outfitted with a world class nine-lane blue synthetic polyurethane track, two dual-directional runways for jumps, as well as ample room for throwing and jumping events. The facility also boasts a practice track runway to make it among the nation’s most innovative training sites. In 1996, 2001, 2004, 2007 and 2012 the facility was the site of the SEC Indoor Track and Field Championships.
