Track Teams Finish Strong At Texas Relays
Junior Andrew VanderWagen claims fourth place in the high jump.
AUSTIN, Texas (April 8, 2000) -- The University of Kentucky track and field squad finished competition at the Texas Relays with two events on Saturday, April 8.
Giving Kentucky its highest finish of the day, junior Andrew VanderWagen claimed fourth place in the high jump (section B). VanderWagen's leap of 6-10.75 surpassed by one inch his outdoor seasonal high, which he accomplished at the Hurricane Classic in March.
In the women's triple jump (section A), junior Shevan Threats finished in the eight spot with a jump of 40-02.75, giving Kentucky another top-10 finish.
On Friday night, the dynamic 800-meter quintet of senior Jeff Limpert and freshmen Chad Johnson, Hunter Spencer, and Thomas Morgan, tried their hands at the distance medley relay. Their time of 9:59.05 was good enough for ninth place against strong teams such as Texas A&M and Arkansas.
The Cats return to the track when they visit the University of Tennessee for the Sea Ray Relays in Knoxville, April 13-15.
